According to the American Stock Dog Registry the Toy Australian Shepherd has a height of up to 13.9 inches tall, measuring from the top of the dog's shoulder to the ground.
The Australian Shepherd is a well-balanced dog, no matter whether Standard, Miniature or Toy. He is attentive and animated, showing strength and stamina combined with unusual agility. Slightly longer than tall, he has a coat of moderate length and coarseness with coloring that offers variety and individuality in each specimen. In each sex, masculinity or femininity is well defined. Bone is moderate and clean.
The Australian Shepherd is intelligent, primarily a working dog of strong herding and guardian instincts. He is an exceptional companion. He is versatile and easily trained, performing his assigned tasks with great style and enthusiasm. He is naturally reserved with strangers but does not exhibit shyness. Although an aggressive, authoritative worker, viciousness toward people or animals is intolerable.
We really love being able to enjoy the Australian Shepherd in such a small size. So far all of the puppies we have produced have been 14inches and under.
All of our dogs are registered with the American Stock Dog Registry. The Toy Australian Shepherd is not a recognized breed in Canada yet, but one day we hope that will be a possibility. We love this breed and strive to produce pups that hold to the breed standard.
